Cnicht Winter Panorama

Hello.

We had an awesome Winter in Wales in 2009. Really awesome snow, which made walking in the Mountains a fantastic experience. I managed to take this panorama from the summit of Cnicht a couple of days after Christmas.

Gaeaf ar Cnicht / Winter on Cnicht

This beast is stitched together from 12 photographs. I’m really happy with the result, apart from the ghosting effect on the rocks, far right of the image, which I will address in the next pass of cleaning up the image. Snowdon and his friends are on the left hand side of the photo.

I’m getting really into Photo-stitching  at the minute. I’m about to make my prints for sale through an on-line shop, so keep an eye out – I’ll be ‘going live’ in a few days I imagine.

‘Mynyddoedd Cymru’ Test Banner

Hello.

I’m in the process of designing a website for our walking group up in Snowdonia, North Wales. Here are a couple of designs I’ve come up with so far:

These will be banners for different sections of the website. We’re still looking for a proper name for the group – ‘Mynyddoedd Cymru’ simply means ‘Welsh Mountains’ – but we want something that will stand out and be cool. If anyone can think of something good – please feel free to post it in the comments section.

The first is a combination of my two panoramas – Cwm Dyli and  ‘Winter on Cnicht‘.

Thanks.

Cwm Dyli – a panorama

Hello.

I love looking through iPhoto on my iMac, and by doing so – I find some nice images that I haven’t yet stitched together to form a panorama. This one dates back to the end of August last year, a 7 photo stitch of Cwm Dyli, a trek of the Snowdon Horseshoe we did over the summer.

Turned out quite nicely me thinks, I love the mood of the photograph. Good times.

Night Photography

Hello :)

Last night, I went for a wee night walk up Moel Eilio, with the intention of taking some pictures of the moon, as it was a blasting full moon. The walk itself was quite nice, a little bit of snow still up there, so I had some fun in it.

I experimented a bit with different settings etc at the top, and manage to take a few nice shots of the skyline;

Glyderau, Snowdon and the Moon

The moon was extremely powerful, and it was a brilliantly crisp night. I noticed, as I look over the sea that I could see the street lights of the East coast of Ireland, probably Wicklow. I’ve never seen them like this before, and the long exposure of the shot really captured it well me thinks.

It was a good walk out, must do it again soon!
