Caveman – a Runcycle

Hello.

I’m currently in the process of working on my demo reel, everything will be new, a fresh start. Today I played around with the awesome Morpheus rig by Josh Burton, and came up with a nice little scene that I can test the rig out, and possibly animate a quadruped. Here’s a quick screen grab of what it looks like so far:

I’m going for a cartoony animation on this one, very stylised, as you can see from the arms and legs, so I’m pushing the rig as far as I can. I’ll be updating all week! Stay tuned for more folks!

Gafyn Lloyd – the sound man

My good friend, and my creative partner (who I’m doing the ‘Sound of Silent‘ film with) Gafyn Lloyd has recently created a website showcasing his talent as a musician/sound effects artist/sound engineer – and I urge you to check it out.

Gafyn's Website

On there, he’s got all of his most recent projects, epic songs in the Music Gallery, and in the Movie Gallery, he’s got all the SFX he’s created for on various projects – including one of my first ever proper – fully rendered, and (although not very well) animated shot called X-mas. Good times.

Here, you’ll also see our create HQ – images of the studio where he works from, and the hub where we used to create sweet music together.

If you need some Audio work for any project – feel free to check him out!

Ben Nevis, a Winter panorama

Hello.

I had a chance to go back up to Scotland with a few friends from work to do some walking in the fresh snow that’s just been dumped up there. Whilst on top of Carn Dearg Medhonach, I managed to squeeze in this panorama of Ben Nevis, Carn Mor Dearg, a bit of the CMD Arete, and Fort William down the bottom:

It was a lovely day, got to use my crampons and Ice axe, which is always fun! Stay tuned for more pics from the Scottish Winter adventure! c

Mynydd Mawr Project (test video)

Hello.

Here’s a very short video clip I’ve created, of a test footage on my project that I’ve been planning now for a few months.

In it, I try to combine my hobbies, Mountains, Photography and Animation. I think the test came out ok. There’s a few mistakes in it, that I can clearly see, such as the quick zoom in about half way through the video, and other minor stuff, but overall I’m quite happy with it.

The project will take a long time to complete I imagine. I’m going to keep it a secret until I finish it, but it’s nice to see that the test came out as I kinda imagined.

For this, I pointed my camera towards Mynydd Mawr, located the centre marker at the summit, and took a photo. All the settings were on automatic (P) – so that needs to be adjusted for my next run. I then paced out 10m, and shot the next photo. This was done all through the ridge from Trum y Ddysgl towards Y Garn on Nantlle Ridge, about 1km:

Nantlle Ridge, a panorama

Hello.

I spent a lovely weekend back home in North Wales, out everyday on the Hills, and catching up with friends. I managed to catch some sun, and got sunburned – in October!! – and take some pictures, as I do. I’ve got quite a lot to stitch together, but here’s one I’ve just completed.

Snowdonia, taken from Nantlle Ridge

The image is taken from Craig Cwm Silyn, a part of the Nantlle Ridge, looking along towards Tal-y-Mignedd, with the ridge connecting to Trum y Ddysgl swooping to the right. Snowdon Massif i sitting quietly in the centre-right of the image, with the Glyderau disappearing into the distance.

It was a lovely day out on the hills. Stay tuned for more images!

Llyn Bochlwyd (Lake Australia) – Cwm Idwal

Hello.

I took this image at the beginning of last year, when I was getting back into Mountain walking. We were hiking up Tryfan, the weather was glorious, and we had a big group. We stopped here for a wee break, and I started snapping away. Here’s the result of a 12 photo stitch:

Llyn Bochlwyd - Australia Lake, Cwm Idwal

Llyn Bochlwyd, or Lake Australia got it’s name because if viewed from a vantage point on Tryfan, it looks pretty close to the shape of Australia, which is pretty cool. It’s located right in the heart of Cwm Idwal, in the Cwm below Castell Y Gwynt, above Llyn Idwal.  It offers a really beautiful panorama of the Glyderau, and all the way to the coast to the North.

Tiss a nice spot.

Farewell ‘ye old blog

Hello.

As I’ve got myself this brand new shinny new Blog, and I’m really liking everything about it thus far, I’ve decided to delete my first ever blog. It was a fun blog, and because I was in the Animation Mentor Webring, I always got traffic to it, there was my stills and some animation from my first couple of Terms, but as the Terms got harder, I didn’t manage to update it as often as I would have liked, and  now, as I don’t go there at all anymore, I’ve decided to delete the whole thing. The stills that were on the blog are stuff up on my (very) outdated website – they wont be missed.

The Blogger Site

At least it gave me a good start into the Blogging World.
